Having a Nervous Breakdown? Need some Ooby-Dooby in your life? Hop on the Mystery Train as David Tattersall takes you on a journey through 1950’s Rock n’ Roll. Like cruising in a Red Cadillac with the radio on, enjoy a golden age of musical styles!
When Elvis mixed blues with country he caused a popular music sensation. Now David Tattersall sensationally explores other musical heroes of the decade: Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran and Bo Diddley. Charlie Feathers, R.L. Burnside and Hasil Adkins. Pop stars and underground rock n’ roll heroes. Whether aiming for the hit parade or home recording in the finest indie traditions, these musicians knew where it was at: making music that was fun, rocking and dangerous. Being cool because they weren’t trying to be cool. Exactly like D.T. himself.
On this album David returns to his own roots, recording on the good old cassette four track, just like the early days of The Wave Pictures, as near to Sun Records as can be, channelling the do it yourself spirit of Sam Philips and mashing blues and country à la Elvis.
Recorded in The Booze Cube, London, by David Tattersall, on a Tascam 4-track cassette machine, vocals through Dave’s HH guitar amp to capture some classic 50’s reverb, mixed down to Mono for that real rockin’ sound and sloshed down with some J.D. and coke for that authentic rollin’ groove.
David & The Nightowls is a heavyweight 180gm, Baby Pink coloured, vinyl lp.

Soulful guitar interplay form the heart of this lovely Americana collaboration from Dave Alvin and Jimmie Dale Gilmore. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 2, 2018

This is one of the strongest albums by Stanley Brinks and this alone speaks volumes about its quality and merits, since Mr. Brinks's material is always great. The Wave Pictures are doing a terrific job as his backing band and the results are simply breathtaking. This has so many merits that a simple review can not cover. His voice sax and guitar sound is distinctive, yet I find that fans of Hefner, Jonathan Richman, Velvet Underground, Violent Femmes will certainly enjoy this immensely. Vassilis Gonis
