about

'FRENCH CROCKET' is an EXTRA SPECIAL SUPER EXCLUSIVE double 7” ep released on super cool Madrid based label Acuarela Discos.

Taken from their last album 'WHEN THE PURPLE EMPEROR SPREADS HIS WINGS', 'French Cricket' is a love song to childhood and all those long teenage summer afternoons that lead singer David Tattersall spent with his friends playing French Cricket in his parents’ back garden. Musically, the song is a cross between The Who and Guided By Voices, but with Tom Verlaine on spiky melodic lead guitar. Cracking!

The second track is a totally rockn' out version of Bobby D's 'FROM A BUICK SIX'. Check it out!

'PORCUPINES' is the greatest ever song written about porcupines. Here the band worked out a rocking psychedelic instrumental section, like The Yardbirds having a jam with The Shadows.

RUFUS THOMAS is a tribute to the late great legend of Memphis rock n roll and soul, but oddly enough it is a country and western style song.

Dave Wave Pictures started his musical career as an acoustic guitar child prodigy and he pays tribute to one of his acoustic guitar faves by covering The Reverend Gary Davis’ CINCINNATTI FLOW RAG.
